Lovely Land Day 5

After Gratitude Circle and a game of Scout Sword, we discussed the rock cycle and differences between igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Then they played Rock Cycle Motions (find another player with the same type rock- Igneous, Sedimentary or Metamorphic- and make the matching movement to discard, be first to get rid of all your cards) Then they painted Kindness rocks (stones painted with a positive message and hidden somewhere for someone else to find). Next we practiced the play during snack and went to the obstacle course. Next, we looked at several different types of minerals and rocks which I passed around and we discussed their uses. Then they played “Capture the Minerals” (like capture the flag but instead of a flag you get a picture of one of the rocks from the lesson and have to match it up to a fact on your team’s board. Also if you get tagged and go to jail you are free once you answer a question from the rock lesson correctly). Next, we had lunch and went to the creek. Lastly, they performed their original play, “The Evil Queen Strikes Again”.
