Above and Below Week 3 Day 3
After a game of Bibbity Bibbity Bop and Gratitude Circle, we explored patterns in nature (different types of spirals including Fibonacci sequence, concentric circles, hexagons, fractals, tessellations). Then we went on a scavenger hunt hike to find examples of these patterns in the forest. Then we discussed similarities between the Internet and the Wood Wide Web (all systems using networks of communication to exchange messages and share resources). After snack and obstacle course, we played “Guess that Image” of closeup pictures to show that sometimes the microcosmos has similar patterns to the macrocosmos and vice versa; clusters of galaxies looking strikingly similar to the network of neurons in our brains. After the Obstacle course, I gave a quick overview of artist M.C. Escher and they made Tessellation Art. Then after lunch and the creek, we did some playwriting and rehearsal for their original play.
