Above and Below Day 3
After a game of Whoosh! and Gratitude Circle, we explored patterns in nature (different types of spirals (including Fibonacci sequence), concentric circles, hexagons, fractals, tessellations). Then we went on a scavenger hunt hike to find examples of these patterns in the forest. During snack we played “Guess that Image” of closeup pictures to show that sometimes the microcosm has similar patterns to the macrocosm and vice versa; clusters of galaxies looking strikingly similar to the network of neurons in our brains. After the Obstacle course, I gave a quick overview of artist M.C. Escher and they made Tessellation Art. Then after lunch and the creek, we did some playwriting and rehearsal for their original play.
