Wild World Session 1 Day 1
After playing a Name Game to learn each other's names, we did our first Gratitude Circle and some Organic Gardening with Ms. Melissa. We watered peach trees, pulled out lettuce from garden beds, cleaned chicken coop, harvested beets and carrots and then planted spinach. Then we picked a carrot to wash off and eat. We fed the tops of the carrots to the bunnies. Then we had snack and started brainstorming ideas for our play. I also showed them the correct/safe way to use the obstacle course and let each of them have a go on it. Then we hiked to the white house and worked on an art project inspired by microscopic images. We looked at various microscopic images on the monitor and through the microscope. Then they chose one that inspired them and they created their own artwork from it. Then we ate lunch. After lunch we played a few games and went to explore the woods and creek. At the creek some explorers caught water beetles or minnows while others made creek clay pots and placed them on a log to dry in the sun. Near the end of the day, we saw a King Snake (they are non-venomous and eat other unwanted snakes such as copperheads and rattlesnakes).
